PRODUCER - JO DYER
Jo Dyer is one of Australia’s leading producers. Now an independent producer who has recently produced a range of theatre and opera, Jo has previously held a number of significant roles in the Australia performing arts industry, most notably as General Manager of Bangarra Dance Theatre and Executive Producer of Sydney Theatre Company. At STC, Jo oversaw the largest theatre programme in the country, touring the company’s works around Australia and the world, including Gross und Klein starring Cate Blanchett to Paris, London and Vienna and Uncle Vanya with Blanchett, Richard Roxburgh, Hugo Weaving and Jacki Weaver to the Lincoln Center Festival in New York.
Jo’s debut film, Michael James Rowland’s Lucky Miles was released in 2007 and won awards including the Audience Award for Best Film at the Sydney Film Festival and the Special Jury Prize at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Lucky Miles was also nominated for Best Film and Best Screenplay at the 2007 AFI and IF Awards and alongside co-producer Lesley Dyer, Jo was honoured with the Best Producer award at the Asian First Awards. Her follow up film, Michael Kantor’s The Boy Castaways premiered at the Adelaide Film Festival in 2013 and was broadcast on the ABC after a national cinema release. It has gone on to screen at Festivals across Europe and the Caribbean. Jo also contributed a chapter to Rob Connolly’s acclaimed feature anthology Tim Winton’s The Turning, which premiered nationally at the 2013 Melbourne Film Festival and internationally at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival. Her third feature, Girl Asleep, will be co-produced with award-winning children’s theatre company Windmill and goes into production in December 2014.
Jo’s most recent work, Band of Magicians, enjoyed a sold-out season at its premiere at the 2014 Sydney Festival and will tour nationally in 2015 onwards. She has a reality TV show in development based on the Band of Magicians stage show, as well as a narrative comedy, The Crew’s Ship.
PRODUCER - BARBARA MEYER
Barbara Meyer is the President of Admire Entertainment based in New York which was awarded them the Agency of The Year by NACA. Her roster of clients have included a prime minster to the infamous John Waters plus the winners of Last Comic Standing. She has toured shows to performing arts venues across the country. Barbara cut her teeth with The Weissler Company and at New Line Cinema.
DIRECTOR: CRAIG ILOTT
Craig is one of Australia’s most sought-after and versatile directors who works with many of Australia’s most interesting and dynamic artists. His hugely successful production, Smoke & Mirrors, was a smash hit from Sydney to Edinburgh, going on to win three Helpmann Awards including 'Best New Australian Work'. His production of the now world-famous La Clique Royale was described by The Scotsman as, “a magical experience that is still the greatest show on the Fringe”.
Craig won a Greenroom Award for Best Direction of a Musical for Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which also won Best Musical at the Sydney Theatre Awards. He was Creative Director for Pacha Sydney @ The Ivy, the flagship Merivale Group venue, directing site specific performance and entertainment. Most recently Craig directed La Boheme for Opera Queensland.
SET DESIGNER - PETER ENGLAND
Peter England is one of Australia’s most acclaimed set designers. His most recent focus has been the production design for Global Creatures’ astonishing King Kong, which earned Peter his fourth Helpmann Award. He was previously honoured for his sets for Opera Australia’s Sweeney Todd, Bangarra Dance Theatre’s Unaipon and his work on the Awakenings section of the Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony. Peter was Production Designer on three of Sydney’s world famous New Year’s Eve celebrations, including Millennium. His work has been seen internationally via a series of productions for the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington DC and more recently across the globe via his award-winning design for the Arena Spectacular Walking with Dinosaurs for Global Creatures and the BBC and How to Train Your Dragon for Global Creatures and DreamWorks Animation. LIGHTING DESIGN - MATTHEW MARSHALL
Matt has lit everyone from the Dalai Lama to Jimmy Barnes to Human Nature to Australia’s Prime Minister. He is an award-winning designer and a long-time collaborator of both Craig Ilott – lighting Smoke and Mirrors and the productions of Eddie Perfect and Trevor Ashley - and James Galea – lighting Lying Cheating Bastard. He works consistently across cabaret, theatre, opera and contemporary dance, designing regularly for companies including Sydney Theatre Company, New Zealand Dance Company and Opera Queensland.
SOUND DESIGN - STEVE FRANCIS
Steve has created sound designs and composed for Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, State Theatre of South Australia, Belvoir, Bell Shakespeare and Griffin Theatre Company. His dance work includes a number of scores for Bangarra Dance as well as The Australian Ballet. He has written music for numerous films and television shows and also composed sections of the Olympic and Rugby World Cup opening ceremonies. Steve has won three Helpmann Awards and a Sydney Theatre Award.
VIDEO DIRECTOR - ADAM FRANKLIN
Adam Franklin is a Los Angeles based director, producer and writer. He was featured in the Kill City Top 100 and his work has appeared on MTV, VH1 and Cartoon Network. His work has been described as “a Kool-Aid concoction of in-your-face satires with terrifyingly original humor” (The 405). Adam created a name for himself in new media, writing and directing comedy series that gained a devoted youth following and over 45 million views on the Youtube Channel (The Real Paris) and since been adapted into a television show, currently in its second season (StevieTV). He directed music videos for artysts Ty Segall and Abrakadabra, a horror mash up of The Haunted Mansion and Peewee's Playhouse. Adam is director and executive producer of Romantic Encounters (a comedy series on My Damn Channel) which was nominated for Best Comedy Series (LA WEEKLY).
